Loreto Aprutino

From our hotel and residence, a beautiful excursion to discover Loreto Aprutino.

The ancient village of Loreto Aprutino stands on a hill at 294 m above sea level. It was formerly called "Lauretum", because after its destruction during the war of Corfinio against Rome, was rebuilt in an area characterised mainly of laurel trees. Loreto Aprutino is renowned for the production of a popular extra virgin olive oil DOP that in 2005 allowed the city to receive the award of "Green Flag for Agriculture”.

Musei civici

The City Museums of Loreto Aprutino have collections of great importance for the history and art of that area and of the Abruzzo region within them. They are structured as thematic exhibitions dedicated to the archeology of the area, to the production of extra virgin olive oil and to the history of majolica ceramics of Castelli.
Among the major museums you can visit the Acerbo Museum of Ceramics of Castelli which opened in 1957 and consists of six exhibition halls, within which you can admire the collection of Baron Giacomo Acerbo, consisting of 570 pieces dating back to the period from the mid-sixteenth century to the nineteenth century.
You cannot miss the opportunity to visit the Oil Museum, the most recent one: it was opened in 2005, to try to revitalize the oil mill built in 1880.

The Palazzo Chiola, built on the site of a former medieval castle, the Castelletto Amorotti, which houses the Museum of Oil, and the Unripe museum, which houses a valuable collection of ceramics from Castelli.
