Visiting Tortoreto

From the Club Hotel Le Nazioni it takes less than an hour by car to reach Tortoreto, with the sea constantly by your side.
In Tortoreto the Clock Tower stands out like a watchful guardian over this medieval hamlet of which it is possible to still note several remains of the city walls, built in ancient times.

The religious tradition

The city has a long standing religious tradition: with various churches to visit, each of a different style.
The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Misericordia, built in the XVI century, has an interesting tour of frescoes depicting the Passion of the Christ and is described by Boccaccio in the Decameron; while the Chiesa parrocchiale di San Nicola di Bari houses inside an organ of exquisite craftsmanship.
The Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, built together with the convent, houses a particular terracotta statue of the Virgin Mary with Child.


Among the events not to miss in Tortoreto we note the Festival of Typical Products and The Feast of fish which are held in the month of August. In the same month there is the Palio del Barone, a reenactment of the wedding between two members of a noble family of the XIII century, accompanied by games, dance and parties in traditional costumes.
