Birthplace of Gabriele D'Annunzio

Pescara is a locality situated directly on the Adriatic Sea, very famous both for the bathing tourism and for the artistic and architectural richness of the historical centre. Montesilvano is bordering Pescara: it is therefore easy to reach by car, using public transport or our bicycles; you should not miss the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cities in central Italy.

Pescara and D'Annunzio

To this day the best remaining evidence of the poet is the museum of the Birthplace of Gabriele D'Annunziorecognized as a national monument in 1927 and inaugurated to coincide with the centenary of his birth.
You can visit the five rooms that represented the soul of the building, embellished by captions with verses from his "Nocturne", admire the beautiful period furnishings, photographs, lithographs and other historical artifacts through which you can retrace the life of the writer.

What to see in town

  • Piazza della Rinascita o Piazza Salotto, designed by the world-famous architect Toyo Ito, is the beating heart of the city, connected to the sea by Piazza Primo Maggio (in which there is a beautiful work, "the fountain ship on the sea" by the sculptor Cascella) and to the center, by Corso Umberto I which is the most important street for width, beauty and shopping!
  • The tourist port, the new bridge over the sea and the museum of the sea
  • Le various churches and basilicas. In particular, the Basilica of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows is the best known of Pescara, the Cathedral of St. Cetteo (patron saint of the city), the churches of St. Andrew and Sacred Heart.

Events and things to do

Some of the main events in Pescara are of considerable interest such as the Pescara Jazz, a music festival of European importance, the Flaiano Award - a multicultural event named after Ennio Flaiano, of international interest and much followed and appreciated by the public - and Out of order, a contemporary art exhibition held every year in different places, especially in disused areas.
