Giulianova
It takes only 30 minutes by car to reach Giulianova from our Hotel and Residence on the sea in Abruzzo, to start a journey to discover a place rich in traditions and history. Giulianova is situated at the foot of the Apennines and overlooks, like a panorama terrace on the Adriatic Coast. It shows signs of an urban layout of a past history, a village of medieval origin defended in the past by 4 cylindrical towers.
What to see
- The two towers which have remained partially intact: Porta Napoli and Il Bianco, recently renovated, which houses the archaeological area of the Civic Museum.
- The Coastal Tower of Salinello, an example of a defence structure of the Neapolitan Viceroyalty
- Le goldsmiths', blacksmiths' and coral shops that keep alive the traditions to which the city is very attached, and that put on display products of enchanting value
- Religious buildings such as the Church of San Flaviano, the Cathedral dedicated to the city's patron saint and an imposing Renaissance construction with an octagonal plan, located in Piazza Buozzi, the Sanctuary of the Madonna dello Splendore from the 16th century, the Franciscan Convent which houses the Museum of Art of Splendour, with works of sacred art
Events not to be missed
A special event in Giulianova in August is the Feast of Our Lady of PortosalvoA procession from the land towards the sea with a fleet of fishing boats that, as a sign of devotion, accompany the Madonna into the sea and then throw a crown of flowers into the water.
But there are also many other events that enliven the city atmosphere especially in spring and summer, from music to antiques exhibitions, from cabaret to prose.
Food lovers can visit the various food and wine itineraries that Giulianova offers.
